Margaret T. “Meg” Coker is honored to join the Carr Law Firm family as an associate attorney. She is a native of Tunica, Mississippi and a graduate of Delta State University and the University of Mississippi School of Law. She and her husband, John Frank Coker, are the proud parents of three sons.

Meg began her legal studies at the height of the COVID 19 pandemic and just before her 40th birthday in the summer of 2020. She spent 15 years in community journalism at The Tunica Times newspaper prior to becoming an attorney.

While in law school, Meg was active in several student organizations including Phi Alpha Delta, the Christian Legal Society, the Trial Advocacy Board and the Public Interest Law Foundation. She also served on the Honor Council and the Dean’s Leadership Council.

Meg received hands on legal training through the Low-Income Housing Clinic at the University of Mississippi School of Law in the fall of 2021. Students must apply to participate in the clinic and only eight student associates are accepted each fall. Under the direction of two licensed attorneys, Meg and her peers interacted with clients, court staff and attorneys; drafted pleadings, responses, and discovery material and assisted with civil cases at the local, state and federal level.

Meg gained additional practical experience through the University of Mississippi School of Law’s externship program. Second and third year law students enrolled in this program work in various judicial, government, or public service settings. Meg served as an extern in the office of the District Attorney for the Eleventh Circuit Court district in the spring of 2023.

Meg completed her coursework and earned a juris doctor with a concentration in criminal law in May of 2023. She was selected class marshal and carried the banner for the law school both at its graduation and the commencement ceremony for all schools on the University of Mississippi campus.

Meg is a member of the First Baptist Church Tunica and volunteers at the Odessa Grant Food Pantry. She will be based in the Carr Law Firm’s satellite office in Tunica County.
