Michael “Mike” Carr

Founder/Lead Attorney


Mike, as the namesake founder of Carr Law Firm, focuses his practice on criminal defense and personal injury.

An experienced litigator, he has tried 87 jury trials in state and federal court as lead counsel, ranging from complex civil cases to triple homicide capital murder defense. In the evenings, he serves as an adjunct professor at Delta State University; teaching Constitutional law, Criminal Law, Civil Liberties, and The Judicial Process.

In addition to this practice and his teaching duties, Michael is heavily involved in the following professional organizations:

  • Founder and President of the Criminal Defense Section of the Mississippi Bar 2024-2025

  • Appointed to the Mississippi Supreme Court’s Access to Justice Commission in 2024

  • Appointed to JULIAN Legal Advisory Committee 2024-present

  • Appointed to the Mississippi Bar Executive Finance Committee in 2020

  • Appointed to the Grants Committee of the Mississippi Bar 2024-2027

  • Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Association

  • Appointed to the Access to Justice Committee of the Mississippi Bar - created and implemented a statewide rural clerkship program - 2021-2024

  • Former Mississippi Bar Commissioner for the 11th Circuit

  • Mississippi Public Defenders Association

  • Served as a judge and attorney coach for the Mississippi High School Mock Trial Competition for ten years.

A regular presenter at the University of Mississippi, Delta State University, and statewide Continuing Legal Education events, Mike has received statewide recognition for his work with the Mississippi Public Defenders Association, the Mississippi Bar Lawyers in Every Classroom Program, and various professional education events. Mike was named Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year in 2014 by the Mississippi Bar, and maintains a top "AV" rating by Martindale Hubbell. He has been named a “Top 100 Lawyer” from 2017 to present
